Admist Athens’ enchanting streets, where every corner holds a new discovery

Just a few minutes' walk brings you to Monastiraki Square, a meeting point where street life, local markets, and centuries of history come together. From there, you can easily explore the Roman Agora and Hadrian’s Library, two of the city's most remarkable ancient sites, tucked between the lively shops and tavernas.

Wander a little deeper into Psyrri, a neighborhood known for its creative spirit — a maze of small alleys with artisan workshops, lively tavernas, and bursts of street art at every turn. Or head toward Thiseio, where tree-lined paths open up to views of the Acropolis and lead you toward the Temple of Hephaestus, one of the best-preserved temples of ancient Greece.

WALK AROUND ATHENS

A few steps further, you’ll find yourself in Plaka, often called the “neighbourhood of the gods.” Its narrow streets, neoclassical houses, and shaded squares offer a glimpse of old Athens that still feels very much alive. Hidden within Plaka is Anafiotika, a tiny, almost secret neighborhood built by islanders, with whitewashed houses that climb up the slopes of the Acropolis.

If you continue toward Syntagma Square, you’ll reach the heart of modern Athens, where you can watch the ceremonial changing of the guard outside the Parliament building. Just behind it lies the National Garden, a peaceful escape with shaded pathways, tall palm trees, and small hidden ponds — a beautiful contrast to the city's vibrant energy.

Getting here is easy: Monastiraki Metro Station is just a few minutes' walk from our doorstep, connecting you directly to the airport (Line 3) and to the rest of Athens. For guests arriving by car, parking options are available in nearby streets, as Ermou itself is pedestrian-only.

Wherever you wander, everything that makes Athens unforgettable is just a few steps away from Ergon House Ermou. The history, the neighborhoods, the energy of the city — it’s all right here, ready to be explored.
